Hi,

I got into custom pcs around 2 years ago. I built my first pc in May 2006 for around $650 CAD. The specs were:

AMD 64 3200+ Venice Socket 939 Processor

Kingston 512MB PC 3200 Valuram

ASUS A8N 5X Motherboard

PowercolorX550 (although my windows registers it as X600) 256MB PCI-E Graphics Card

Seagate Barracuda 80GB 7200RPM S-ATA II hard drive

LG CD+-RW DVD-ROM Combo Drive

No name case and 450 Watt PSU

BenQ FP531 15″ LCD Monitor with 8ms response time

It wasn’t bad for a starter?

Now, after almost 2 years, these are the specs:

AMD 64 3200+ Venice Socket 939 Processor

Buffalo 512MB PC 3200 Select RAM (Kingston one got killed)

ASUS A8V-E SE (A8N 5X got killed too)

PowercolorX550 (although my windows registers it as X600) 256MB PCI-E Graphics Card

Seagate Barracuda 80GB 7200RPM S-ATA II hard drive

LG CD+-RW DVD-ROM Combo Drive (DVD-ROM function no longer works…)

No name case

Ultra 4-port Firewire card

Ultra X-Finity SlI-Ready 600 Watt PSU (I bought this too fast without considering an Antec Earthwatts or something with a higher efficiency rating…)

1X 120mm Case fan at back

2X 80mm Case fans (1 at front, 1 at side)

DCLCD (I dunno my dad bought it…) 20.1″ LCD Monitor with Ithink 4ms response time

old Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers

old grey keyboard

Microsoft Basic mouse

$4.99 microphone

Lacie 320GB USB External hard drive

I’m thinking of getting a Razer Krait mouse and a Pioneer DVR-112BK or 212BK (i still don’t know the difference between SATA and EIDE…though I think I should get SATA).

When DDR3 memory gets cheap, I’ll do a major makeover of my system. (motherboard, ram, processor)

That’s my first post:).
