So,
I’ve just finished my GCSE’s and wanted a little project, in the last few weeks ive ripped apart a HP E-PC (below) and have now got the hole summer to work on it =D

HP E-PC

Its small form design made me want to mod it somehow, but there was so many options… but as you have properly guessed from the title, if decided on installing it into a briefcase =]  once I had managed to get the HP E-PC apart (with a hammer) took the mobo out and decided what cheap, leather, decent briefcase to get something around £25.. .

The Mobo and diffrent fan - Mega High Spec

The choisen briefcase (mine was black leater inside not cream) - Got it for £20 in argos sale, WITH POSAGE bargin =p

Bought a touchscreen of ebay for £40ish at this point its untested…

Now for the modding, ill let the pictures tell the story…

Briefcase

With the inside riped out.

The Cd drive inside it was broken and wouldnt open, so i decided to mod that too..

I also got these speakers for free of a friend, so i ripped them apart to put them in.

I also managed to run the speakers of a 12v molex cable, thats one more wire i wont be needing to put another wire to the breifcase.

So to test it, i made a cut down version of XP to put on him, also using an 80gb HDD which i got for free, so far total spend is around £60.

 Quickly pushed together, not finished

NEXT STEPS

  • Mount it all down and fix in place
  • Find a way of powering touchscreen, (hoping it will work of molex)
  • Make holder for speaker, and think best place to put them
  • Cut down touchscreen by about 2cm so it fits in snugly
  • Cut hole for power, hdd led, on swich and usb extender in the leather fold down part where the keyboard is
