not a lot has changed really although i`v spent a few days making a video for you tube so i thought i`d whore it around as much as possible.
still on with building the green W/C set-up and i`ve just lost my job so hardware upgrades are off the menu for a while. at lease until the GTX 280 is released.
spent a lot of time reading up on Syrillians blogs on working with acrylic. and mesing around with the ideas he`s given me

so the psu is in loosely so that i can set up the wiring and my god what a task this has been.
sofar i`ve got about 12 hours work just routing cables, the re routing them as i remember about other parts. i feel like i`m forgetting something though as i used up a lot less modular connectors than in my old case.
i`m hoping for a virtually wire free look which isnt going to be easy really considering this case is completely clear.
i put the motherboard in and then took it out again, in , out , shake it all about. doubling up on the standoffs has really helped though as i now have space for the inverters behind the board
there isn’t really much i can say about the next stage of building as it was mainly just wiring up all the various parts (apart from the fact that it was a complete t**t) so i guess i`m just gonna let the pictures do the talking.
as i’ve already mentioned next up is to water cool it all so
Enzotech CPU + Chipset block. these are posibly the prettiest bits of kit i`ve ever set eyes on and they perform VERY well. from the reviews i’ve read there easily as good as the fuzion and swiftech stuff

went back today to pick up my case side and yet again he`d forgot to do it. so i stapled a note to his forehead reminding him and collected my side an hour later. so the order of the day has been fitting the new reobus and moddifieing the case to take it.

using some special acrylic glue the dood who cut my case gave me, ive built the box system that will hold the dvd, reobus and hard drives. the glue is a pain in the arse to avoid getting everywhere and even the slightest drop on this case will ruin it as it melts the acrylic to glue it so that has been fun. it also has a tendency to create spider webs of glue everywhere. something else that dosnt help is my inability to wait for the glue to dry before working on things
i then fit the new box section into the case and re drilled the holes to accept it. then i fitted the bottom support section to create another box.
this will soon be the home for the 240mm rad when i can afford the water cooling (which shouldn’t be long now). water cooling is a must to try and keep some of the dust out of these clear cases hence the reason the rad and fans are housed in a completely separate section of the case
as you can see the backplate for the motherboard has now been flipped to invert it. this will point the gpu fan in the right direction and i reason it will aid cooling there is a 120mm exhaust fan going in the roof and an 80 mm intake going in the rear this hopefully should create what’s know as negative pressure which will aid cooling.
the motherboard tray is mounted at each corner on 4 stand-offs. i intend to double up on the motherboard stand off’s for two reasons.
1: this will give me bags of room behind the mobo to hide wiring and the odd inverter.
2: apparently the mother board i have (asus p5b deluxe ) transfers heat to the back side to aid cooling. this has now created an area where this heat can escape through the vented rear.
as you can see i will be able to be a lot more subtle with the lighting in this new case. the old one needed to much to make it stand out where as this one stands out in just daylight. its being lit now by 2 small uv cathods where as there is 6 in the old.

A long long time ago, in a land that time forgot, (well a backward little townBarrow in Furness actually)

Mike and Stacey spent all their time together watching telly (ergh) in Mikes bedroom as there was jack all else to do. This was all to change when Stacey got given a laptop for her birthday. Stacey set about teaching herself web design,( www.strangepets.com ) coding, flash and started copying up the novel that she had been writing for the past few years.
Mike started to get bored watching telly on his own as Stace always had her head in an ebook. one day Stace came round with an old beige box and asked if mike wanted it. It was quite old, and it was fabled that Jesus himself once used it. This was no matter as with the power of the internetz mike set about learning to use one of these new fanged computorators.
he took it apart, learnt all he could about its innards and rebuilt it with new rams an even harder drives. The first time he plugged it in, it worked and this was that start of a modding obsession not seen since spending his summers underneath his magical Mk 1 Golf GTi. Except this obsession was to keep him somewhat warmer, dryer and with considerably less skinned knuckles. (although about the same amount of swearing and shouting)
Mikes still didnt really know any better so the first mod was to install a TV card which opened up a whole new world of channels to explore (all 3 of em).
one day while browsing throught the usual brace of computor related magazines at his local Tesco one publication hit him in the face like a velvet rigger boot CUSTOM PC was its name and it was like the new testament in pc form. mike bought his new bible and hurried home to his thinking room (toilet) to read and digest all its info. that was it, the dye was cast and Mike was now a fully fledged modderphile.
It started in the usual way, light up fans and cold cathodes, although in a town so pokey and small minded people still thought elvis was alive and the macarana is still played in clubs. finding modding gear was virtually impossible. not being pre-disposed to patients mike was forced to accept rainbow coloured fans that sounded like he was living near Heathrow, and rainbow coloured cold cathodes that looked like a 3 year old had thrown up a pack of skittles into his rig.
mike was happy like this for some time, and taught himself how to fix and diagnose everything by breaking it really far too often. He couldn’t have done this without the help of the boys and girls of CCL Forums.
mike clattered on with his creaky Athlon XP for some time until one day he was out in his beautiful modified car 
when the 150 year old man in front of him decided that reverse was a good gear to be in at traffic lights thus ending his VW dream. It was pointless having such a beautiful motor when people were driving round using the licence they got free with their cornflakes so decided to Blow his new found and very temporary wealth on a new pc.
As insurance company’s arnt known for the rapid progression when it come to seeing who was at fault I had a good year to plan my upcoming first full build. it very nearly ended up as an AMD/ATI tag team as this was the best bang for buck at the time but just as i was about to spend my cash, a new king was born…. his name… Core 2 Duo. reading Custom PC just confirmed everything for me with the type of timing Rolex would be proud of. despite what most of my fanboy mates were trying to tell me Core 2 was battering AMD with a big stick with poo on. so an E6600 was ordered. I wasn’t always that lucky though as i made a few n00b mistakes, the Asus motherboard I ordered turned out to be a big steaming pile. luckily this died shortly after installation and the nice people at CCL allowed me to upgrade my replacement. The ram was also not the fastest i could have got but hey you live and learn.
having spent the best part of 500 pund on all the internals it seemed daft to shut it all away from admiring glances, so the search for a clear acrylic case was on and it didn’t take me long to find one
Work started. A Core 2 E6600 was mated to an Asus P5B Deluxe wifi and into this was plugged a Gainward Bliss 7900 gt Golden Sample.
powering all this was a Hyper Type R 600w psu and the ram came in the form of two gig sticks of Corsair XMS2 5400
UV was to be the theme so in went some cold cathodes in purple and some reactive but deafening 80mm fans. i was quite anal about the wiring for weeks as it was very hard to hide it all in a clear case and clutter just wouldn’t do
UV1 was alive. I quickly added a 32 inch flatscreen as this was always inteneded as an entertainment system. this meant i could while away my nights smoking nefarious substances with my amazed and insanely jealous friends watching movies on the big moving picture box.
Cutting to the chase I added better fans, a better monitor, An Arctic cooling freezer pro 7 and a Zalman gpu cooler I covered may Hard and DVD drives in checker plate overclocked it to 3.0 ghz and this is how it stayed for a while until I set about designing mods for my case as i`d seen too many similar cases by now.
I liked looking at the parts I had in my box so the idea started to form, that my case should sit side on facing me so i set about cutting holes in the side with a dremmal so i could turn my hard drive and doovd drives sideways and have them showing on the side of the case. the problem wit dremmeling acrylic is it tends to melt it and makes a mess of molten plastic along your nice clean lines which then helpfully and instantly dries hard again
Watercooling had always been in the pipline so i knew i had to keep space for a 240 rad inside the case. by now my case had been modded to death and was looking a bit worn. I`d always been a little disappointed with it any way as the UV lighting just didn’t have the intensity I was after. I wanted bright UV and this was a little dull. I set out to find a new clear case but one that was UV reactive. This was a a task and a half. I`d found one by Sunbeam Tech that fitted my exacting standards but after about 12 months of googleing could not find a uk suppler. After trying verious ways of getting one imported from the US a very helpful member of Custom PC Forum called Combatus (cant thank the guy enough) pointed me towards WWW.PC-LOOK.COM where I found my nirvana in case form. A purple uv reactive case with blue LEDs set into the acrylic
I wasted no time and gladly paid my 160 Euros to have that case imported from Paris along with a Scyth Kama Meter fan controler and some UV cold cathode fans. it arrived this week and i have to say i was blown away by this case. the workmanship is first class and the case itself glows an eerie purple even without lights on. in a dull lit room it looks like any normal clear case. but open the curtains or turn on the UVs and my god this thing is simply stunning. Ive spent the last few days trying to get some photos of it in all it glory but gave up as i simply cannot do it justice. my only hope is as I build and mod it Custom pc will see it and hopefully want to feature it maybe then I`ll get some good photos until this day cometh I will not rest
This brings us up to date. I have sent my side panel and drive bays away to be cut to accept the new Kama bay and dvd drive these will then be turned 90 degrees horizontally and 180 vertically to sit upside down in my case. this will leave me room for a double rad underneath the drive bays and enable me to fit my psu at the bottom of my case and the motherboard upside down so my gpu fan faces the correct way (up).
I would have liked to have cut the case myself but without the correct tools for the job the slightest mistake with my imported case would mean a catastrophic end to this project. Anything less that absolute perfection will not be tolerated and I cannot afford to make mistakes with this case. As I build from now on I will take plenty of pics and post them in here for anyone with too much time to read.
