The Start

Well i think i should give an intro befor i start posting my blog.

Im matt (gorstiedaghost on some forums) im 16 from liverpool . I have been into building my own computers for a few years now. My first rig was a shameful Pentium 4, housed in a very sorry looking wooden box, because at the time i could not afford a decent case. After that exsperience, i reasised that modding was a pretty fun thing, which leads me to this blog.

Hope you enjoy it!

The case first started off as a old server case i purchased off ebay for a cheap price of 20 quid. Once it arrived, and i saw the sheer size of it, i thought it would be a waste not to watercool. So i decided on this spec:

Athlon 64 3700+ Skt 939
DFI LANPARTY UT RDX200 CF-DR Cross-Fire Ready
OCZ 2x 512 PC 4800
520w Hiper PSU
BFG 320mb 8800 GTS OC

Swiftech MCR-220 Rad
XSPC 250mm Passive Reservoir
Danger Den (Laing) D5 Vario
Danger Den A64 TDX CPU block

As you can see from the pictures, it was a very basic case, and was abit plane.

Starting the paintjob

As i am not very good with spray painting, and didnt have the money to get someone else to do it, i did the best job i could. First i took the cage apart, and painted it BLUE.

Semi taken apart.

Tester for the paint, looks pretty good.

First cote on front of case cage.

The cace is neatly stacked up :)

A few pics of the hardware

Once i started getting the case underway, my hardware started arriveing. Heres a few shots.

The watercooling setup all accounted for.

Case cage attached back together.

Instead of useing rivets to put the case back together, i used nuts and bolts, it ment i could easyily take the case back apart again.

Temperary use of the case, and secret hide out for JD bottle :D.

Design and construction of top of case

This si the design that i first came up of, basically it will be a 5mm thick peice of perspex with a grill lasered out useing my schools laser cutter.

First test, all OK

And then it went from this very large peice of acrylic

To this rather sexy looking grill!

Total cost - 7.99!

Construction of rad/ res and grill.

Dont have very much to say about this, but pictures say 1000 words.

Tubeing all connected up.

Sanding of the case side and case top

And construction of the PS1 screen surrondings. This was mde from three of the drive bays.

New exspencive toy =D.

New DVD drive, and new fan controller.

Primed PS1 sceen surronds.

Primed case side

Floppy drive besils

I decided that having just normal besils would be about boring, so i made some custom made ones in school. I made a few of them, so that if my hardware ever changed, i could just change the peice of plastic.

mmm tastey :D

Installing the loop

looking good?

Arty farty shot

All the hardware added.

Temps
Idle 22 Dregrees
Load 30 Degrees

Heatsink added onto northbridge as it was getting far too hot.

Well thanks for readin my first input into my plog, except an update VERRYY soon, hopefulyl with completed shots.

Since i am not allowed to enter a pic bigger than 300 pixels wide, if you go onto http://www.cpcff.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12904

There is a full mod log, with full size pictures

enjoy, gorstie out
