The story so far….

As I’ve already said, I didn’t think of taking any pics when I first started work on this little project. Good job really, as the end result is far better than the progress pictures would have led you to believe!

In getting this far, I’ve learned two three very important lessons:-

1. As good as a Dremel, but far cheaper. This is a lie.

2. Measure, mark. Measure again, check mark. Measure again, check again. Cut!

3. Allow plenty of time. Don’t try and rush to get it finished.

So, without further ado, here’s the progress so far:-

Side on, you can see that the MoBo tray has been ‘flipped’ to the other side of the case. This is because this side will be the exposed side when it’s under my desk, and the side panel will be windowed.

The PSU cage has also been removed (usually at the top), and will be fitted at the bottom. This is to allow space in the roof for the Aqua Computer 120.3 radiator.

The next shot is the top of the case. When I got the case it had an 80mm fan in the roof (factory standard fit), which I removed. Then after marking the cut-out I needed for the 120.3 I used the 80mm hole as the start point and chased around my marking with a jigsaw.

The grill is held in place with the four corner screws, and the radiator and fans are held onto the grill with M3 bolts down through the fans and into the radiator mounting holes.

Below, you can see how I had to modify the top decking to sit over the radiator grill.

And finally, for now, some shots from the front. There’s a 120.2 radiator mounted behind the 2 fans. It’s mounted on the front of a 4 into 3 drive bay converter, so as well as the fans cooling the radiator, they will also be cooling my HDDs.

Front
That’s it until next time. Waiting for my new MoBo to turn up, so thing are on hold for a few days unfortunately.
