Right then, theres been lots of progress since my last post. The mould is now finished and we will be spending this evening laying up the final case which should hopefully be set by tomorrow morning!
Here’s a run down of what’s happened this past week… (click images for full size) including hardware spec.
The plug was sanded back and the edges rounded with a router.
It has also been varnished, hence the funny colouring. This helps it release better from the mould.
Next steps were to make the mould…
This morning, once the mould was set we began taking it apart. This wasn’t as easy as hoped for becaues the mdf plug kind of disintegrated but the moulds came off in one peice which makes the plug useless anyway so no harm done!
You can see here the seperated peices of the mould. This also shows where the final case will come apart for access to the interior.
Hopefully tomorrow night i’ll be able to put up some pics of the finished case. All that remains then will be to make some mounting brackets for the hard drives and psu etc. then I will finally be able to get my water cooling rig set up!

Update on the hardware side of things…
My Q9450 has now arrived! I had to order it OEM so instead of spending extra on a heatsink/fan i’ve set up a temporary loop for it. Not exactly professional but its doing the job nicely!
I really like the green fluid (FeserOne), its much more vibrant than i was expecting it to be! I’m thinking i’ll do the other loop (refer to original post) in hopefully equally vibrant orange to give a bit of contrast and also make it clearer for tinkering which tubes go where.
You might be able to see in the in picture but the motherboard is a Asus Maximus Extreme with 2Gb of OCZ Platinum DDR3 (oh hell yes!) so when both loops are in place i’ll be oc’ing it to the max.
