British Telecom ‘ DO YOU RATE THEM??? ‘

Hi everyone, after deciding to get the internet installed into my home, I decided to use BT as they are so “apparentley” highly rated. Um, second thoughts mabie.. I rang BT and spoke to one of there advisers in the sales department, ‘ ok straight forward you would think ‘ far from it.. I was told the engineer would be here within a week to install my line, ona given date.. Ok no problem. Never turned up. After ringing them back i was told that he would be here for sure in another week. ok so a thought, no problem we all make mistakes, right. No sighn of him. So after getting on the phone again, the engeneer turned up unexpected. Finally I thought, dispite the inconvinience. so after getting my internet connection set up after a cupple of days, I was online… Then i get a bill threw the post for my landline, as ive got two accounts apparently somthing i was not told when i rang them first off. I also have had a homehub handset malfunction on me whitch took 4 weeks to replace, with umpteen phone calls to BT concerning this. Everytime I ring hem I dont seem to be able to  get a straiight answer out of them. One rep told me that you have 7 days to pay your pone bill another told me that uyou have 14 and another told me 28 and ‘and another told me 27 and 21′. A mean god man, this comnpany has the title British, is there no quality of service left in any telecom company out there… Orange being another one ive had trouble wit.. Money money money, thats all it is with theese companys….. once ya sighnd up ta hell wit ya, wen ya in that oral contract youvegota pay up or further action will be taken… sick of BT and sick of Orange. Ill not go in to them tho, because their history…

Been with BT Broadband/ISDNx2 for the last 10 years and never had a problem, and that includes moving homes and being back online within a 5 days.

If you have problems goto this site http://www.ispa.org.uk/complaints/

I was with orange crapband and like you say they promise the world and nothing is given so i wanted to leave they said ha! you goto pay £300+ so searched and found that site and they contacted them direct and sent me letters and all got sorted, didn’t have to pay a penny.

I am with bt and all i gotta say is 9/10 -1 for NON so BRITISH phone operaters who dont understand a word you are saying and they mumble on the phone. apart from that all is good

Virgin? They took 6 months to fix my TV, and did so by breaking my internet. Then insisted that the failure was with my router - dispite my testing with 3 that worked fine else where. - I’m now with O2 who seem good (but haven’t been with them long enough to be sure)

Sky are amazing. Their customer service is great and their internet is both cheap and rapid as hell.

I was a BT customer for 26 years and moved recently. Reason being, they shipped alot of their support to India and the service went downhill. I had constant line problems and what is the use of an Engineer in India to my home in Notts? It never got sorted so I moved, I have a fresh new cable line and it works a treat.

Don’t get me wrong I wouldnt like to think im slateing them for nothing but its just when I am reciving a Bill telling me my bill is ready and its not, it just annoys me a long with every thing else thats seems to be going on. I rang them up and ask them about this and after being transferd to “four” diffrent departments. I finaly got threw to the land line department and was told “sorry.” No explination as to why I had recived a bill when it was not time. The service I have recived is really bad but what can i do as im in a contract for 12month. Like I seid this company has the closest title to the Queen “British” and the quality of service is just outright poor. I know someone very close to me that has a company “British…..” and this person has struggled to get that title and the only reason this person has, is because of the level of service and quality when it comes to the line of work this person is in.

I’ve been with BT for over 5 years, and had no problems. I pay for their service and have the home hub etc. I have the option of free broadband with my Orange phone contract, but having read reviews on their service, i have stuck with BT. I agree with the fact they have next to no British phone operators and they cannot understand you and, what seems to me, just make stuff up when they dont understand you, so i do the good old british thing of talking louder and slower!
Other than that, BT wouldnt be the biggest and best if they didnt do something right!

Don’t even get me started on BT Engineers. I had endless grief with them not turning up or not doing the job when I wanted a land line installing last year (the previous owner only had cable).

Like with many companies it’s often a case of being lucky enough to get someone who knows what they’re doing to process your order or deal with problems etc…

…it was also amusing when work got moved from non-call depts to india and kept coming back to the non-call departments. Hopefully they sorted this out by now!

Sort of recently, i.e. going back to February this year, BT have consistently been mucking up my new line installation and billing and it’s only been the past month (fingers crossed) that things seen to have been corrected properly…
