Appologies for the fact that this is nothing like a proper worklog. I have just spent two months in Hospital and before that and in the month since … bits of tinkering .. but no energy to really take all the photo’s and write this up. It’s something I will do when I have my health back. But here are some photo’s of my baby with her new glass top. Still have to do some serious cable management, a little bit of cabinet work and get the hinges fitted, yet she goes from strength to strength. There is also a plan to fit a 5TB media server and an IPCOP firewall in the back of deskpooter. She’s going to end up being a cluster lol

Let there be light !!!!!

I am building a mitred frame to create a fixed width wooden base on which the glass will rest and be hinged. Also looking for some kind of electronic activator arm to open the lid and some of the glass is going to be fake sandblasted with that stick on plastic stuff to hide the ugly parts. Plus I have realised I want the inside of the drawer and all the grey metal painted black so things are really, nearly, invisible til the lights come on.
So … whadyathink?? ![]()
I got fed up with white boxes. I hate the things. Sitting on/under desks collecting dust and looking … just plain and ugly.
But for me it was not the “make it look nicer” type modding project that was to be the order of the day. It was a different type of project altogether: make it look invisible.
This build is nearly finished now but I am going to build a little workblog here of what I did and the things I do and why.
Crazy Buddhist
ps. here are two pictures of how she is looking now and how she looked then. I realise this is somewhat odd way of doing a worklog but hey, I am a crazy buddhist after all
The beginning: Can an entire PC fit in a desk drawer without cooking itself?

Nearing the end:
