Well lets get down to business then shall we, the game is set in the present day by the looks of it, you play a man named Kane who is unlucky enough to be on his way to the chair or good old rosting christmas dinner, only he is the turkey. However hes also lucky enough to be in the same van as a man named Lynch who later in the game becomes someone you might meet in a dark alley with a tube of vasaline and a machette, this guy happens to have some friends on the outside that shoot the van with a lovely RPG blowing you to kingdom-come.

Getting out of the wreckage completely unscaved from the blast you are then thrust into a feirce gun battle between you and a team of inmates and the whole US police force by the looks of it. The controls are simple W,A,S,D keys asgined to forwards, backwards, and straff. While the mouse controls the camera movements, there is also support for the 360 control pad as basically this is a port from the little shit box of wonders the xbox 360. After a while into the game once you have gotten the gist of the controls the game comes into its own and a series of run, duck and shoot gameplay comes into action much like Gears Of War. While in it self this is nothing new though this game seems to pull it off with ease and brilliance led by the storyline and voice actors. As the slogan on the box goes “Strongly reminisent of micheal manns heat” totally and uttally to the point that if this game doesnt get taken to court for copyright infringment then I am a cross dressing monkey with down syndrome.

Earlier on I said this was complete port from the consoles which in fact its not a rubbish port, the video options are all there to be tweaked from AA, to AF settings, resolution, textures, motion blur you name it you can tweak it. Which is a nice feature and shows they havent rushed this game to PC. The game uses a tweaked Hitman engine and is enhanced for multi-core cpu’s so a dual or even quad core system should see a boost in performance. Though for the most part the game can be demanding on hardware in fierce gun battles setting the shadows to hard and limiting them to just the hero and no one else increases peformance tenfold.

I do have to warn you though after the first few missions and some twists in the storyline (which I shall not reveal) I will reveal that the game becomes a gun-totting piece of shit as you end up being forced to join an army and fight a military army in a country that can only be described as right out of COD4 which is a shame as the bank-robbing missions are really fun and mowing down police is extremely fun and scarily satisfying. For the most part though this section dosent last very long and the rest of the game is a polished fine piece of work from Eidos and is a nice step forward for them from the misfortune of loosing Tomb Raider.

The game also comes with a very nice multiplayer, which is team based and youy have to rob a bank and get away with the loot. However the twist comes in the form of a betrayal feature which allows u to turn on your team mates and steal the cash for your self. Choosing when to use this feature is where the mutliplayer shines, and the team mates you do kill come back as cops and then try and kill you. If you come back as a cop you get additional points for taking revenge on the person who betrayed you and you also get a percentage of the loot if it is retrieved. All in all a killer mutliplayer which many hours of fun can be had.
