Cooling and Modding

Cooling was all solely supplied by www.watercoolinguk.co.uk we wanted to keep the theme just right so obviously we wanted to go with 2 loops for this while keeping the size of the components used a lot of flexibility was needed so a smaller hosed loop was selected with compression fittings to keep everything secure if the rig is being transported around, this would be an advantage. Here is a list of the parts we chose for the mod.

2 of one of the pumps in the XSPC range were chosen, the reason for this is we did not want to take up any of the drive bays with a res or 2, so thanks to the design of the pump, in it’s own reservoir is ideal as it means a minimum space is used for both pumps. For the CPU block we went for the reworked XSPC delta block, now this is a performance choice as we reviewed the Xtreme version of this a while back and it done better than the TDX on our over clocked core2duo. Yes this is a reworked version, but from early reports suggesting this is better performing it is a great choice and not too expensive either. For more information on this product click here

On the GFX cooling side we went for the EK R600 block the 600 actel, well choosing a EK block does not need any explanation does it really. For more information on this product click here

For the radiators (due to limited space) we chose the Black ICE stealth GT II 120, what made this the perfect choice was the fact, they are a good few mm thinner than a regular radiator, which means they can fit in tighter places, making them ideal for this mod. 10/8 tubing and compression fittings were chosen as mentioned before for the fact they will be safer in transport.

Last but not least on the water cooling front was the liquid, Fesser one pre mix was chose with UV red for the 2900XT loop and UV Green for the AMD loop. For more information on this product click here

On the Modding parts, we sourced everything from A.C.Ryan, the reason is simple, they can supply everything we need for this mod from UV panels to sata cables, so let us take a look at what we grabbed.

We went for 3x UV 5mm thick panels to remake one side panel, Roof and front panel, as the motherboard tray side was going to be etched we also got a thin black tint sheet to cover that side and to help tie in that sides etch. Obviously they were going to need some serious cutting, but we will look at that later. Click here for more info on the product

On the Radiator grill side of things we went for the 120 single Radgrille for both radiators, these will be coupled with 2x 120mm UV red Blackfire fans, as well as 1x 80mm UV red Blackfire fan

As well as this we managed to grab 2 Braiding kits (minus the connectors) to help tidy things up a bit in the case, also we got 4 sets of Twin overboost UV ccfl’s with full braiding to ensure the case is lit well enough to see the work inside and out.

Next Part – Prep on the panels
